Herbs are no longer used only for external medical purposes, such as treating cuts, bruises or other injuries, but have also become a natural healing source for the human body, mind and spirit. Herbal tea, as a medicine, was first introduced in ancient Rome, but, over time, people have started consuming it as a beverage rather than a medicine.

The two key issues in making flavorful tea are the use of the right water and careful temperature control. Tap water should be filtered before heating and distilled water should be avoided as it is void of natural elements. The ideal water should contain the least amount of minerals in order to bring out the richness and sweetness of the tea. The ideal temperature for making strong red or black tea is approximately 100 degree Celsius, for lighter green or flower teas use approximately 80 degree Celsius.
